About Me

I am largely self-taught but have attended numerous classes and workshops over the years. I am based in Finchley London where I am fortunate to have many green spaces around me including Hampstead Heath.

I started painting in watercolours about 18 years ago. After a number of years I discovered silk painting which has a great affinity with the loose watery effects of watercolour. However the dramatic colours of silk painting led me to more vibrant use of colour in my work and I then turned to pastel and acrylic mediums with which I now mostly work. Glowing vibrant colours available with soft pastels are a joy to work with.

I love painting trees and landscapes in general. Some of my work is semi abstract and although an idea may originally be triggered by a personal experience, memory, or photo, my work often then develops in an organic way. I also draw inspiration from beautiful landscapes seen in my travels. I am never satisfied with one subject or medium and am constantly experimenting.
